Hey all!

I admit, I wave having a bit of a bad day and I decided to check out the Love Memes linked on my player page from the wiki... which is when I realized the last Love Meme was in 2018! 2018! That was so long ago!

So I thought it might be a good idea to go about setting up one for 2021. :)

No negativity, please, only praise, compliments, and joy.

I'm going to start a thread for everyone, but if this triggers anyone's anxiety, I can remove your entry from the thread, no worries.

Look, I know I said it onlist, but Dex. Your brain. I just cannot sometimes. :) The time and effort you put into things like plots, your willingness to discuss minutiae, the kindness and friendliness you offer on the daily, the advice you give - you're honestly a wonder. I think XP's really been made better for having you in it all these years and I think that my time in it specifically has been as well. I look forward to plotting with you in the future and, if I ever figure out how to do random logs again, I'm immediately stealing one or both of your boys for it because they're delightful. Thank you, for both your commitment to XP as a whole and your willingness to share your brilliance with us in general.

Cai beat me to the punch, but seriously. Your brain. The Danger Room scenarios have been really fun, and the questions you ask that end up turning very simple ideas into these grand things that let different characters shine is such a delight (even when the subject matter can be difficult). You're a joy to log with, unafraid to suggest alternatives if something doesn't feel right, and your encouragement and willingness to make something happen makes me strive to write better and has been a massive boon for me in game and just life in general. Talking to you brightens my day, whether it's about the game or food or just life in general. ♥

Your writing looks just like a movie in my mind's eye. Also I appreciate your well-considered thoughts in the email threads about the game. And your moral support in the Discord during the 2020 election. And I was so happy to get to play alt!Pixie during Siege Perilous, so thanks for thinking of me even though I don't post that much.

You challenge me harder than anyone, and that's including my spouse. You push me to be a better writer, to dig deeper and not take a lazy way out of a situation, and you've been a dear friend for better than half my life. Almost all of the best writing I have done (in Day Zero, Genosha, Dark Phoenix, and plenty of others) is because of the platform you constructed in logs giving me a place to stand. I will be forever grateful for that.

I’ve done a few of these, and sung your praises in each of them but honestly, you deserve every word.

You push me to do more, and to take that next step with my characters. You are encouraging and a hard arse in just the right amounts so that I don’t take the easy way out.

You challenge me to be my best writing self and when I’m not sure where to go, you give me options or help me work my way toward an answer without taking over.

You do so much for this game and I thank you for the effort and care you put into it. You genuinely give a shit about wanting to see everyone do well and enjoy themselves. It doesn’t go unnoticed or unappreciated.

You are behind almost every challenging decision I make in X-Project - either handing me ways to push my characters and writing to another level, pushing me to confront the topics I generally avoid, but always with care, because the times I've said "I can't right now." you've let me back off, or rework an idea you presented without any issues.

You've been such a cheerleader for my best-worst ideas, helped me make them better, and never let me fall back into lazy approaches. I don't know how you keep persistently working to make us a better game with better writers, but you do, and my writing and my playing and my LIFE is better for it.

And then you do these absolutely brilliant logs yourself, and that is - well, most people would call it the icing on the cake but you don't do sweet, so lets call it the stand out red wine sauce on a perfectly seasoned steak.

(this is also a thing you do to me a lot, because inevitably we talk food and then I want to make more food)

You know you're my best friend. What else can I say that I haven't already said? But yes, you are the Plotmaster, the person who is always thinking of the future of the game and the one who sees the big picture in everything and avoids getting bogged down in picky details. Every writing project needs someone like that and we're damn lucky to have you.

I am always impressed at how much you've put, and continue to put, into this game for so long. I haven't been active for some time now, but so many of my favourite moments are directly tied to your plots, especially Genosha and the transition from Phase 1 to 2. You rock. Garrison is also one of those characters that I will forever associate with the XP version first and foremost; you've made him your own. Kevin is great too but I haven't been all that active and I don't think I've logged with him much, if at all. Maybe that's something we can work out someday too.

I also hope to someday get a chance to hang out with you and the Toronto XP crew someday, hopefully not too far down the road. :)
